About this course

Learn about the universe and how ancient civilization worked with astronomy. You will explore the star system and constellations. From eclipses, supermoons and blood moons to the Pleiades, Orion and Sirius. From cosmology to the quantum world of physics relating to astronomy today. This is a great course for a deeper understanding into astronomy, ancient cultures and modern belief systems. You will have lots of deep discussions on these topics. You will interact through you tube for a visual aid.

It is also a great course if you are looking to brush up your skills and knowledge in this area. With a local observatory in Sutton-in-Ashfield we are grateful to have this treasure on our doorsteps to also explore outside the course. This course is great to expand or refresh any astrological skills you may need for career purposes.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? Recall ancient astronomical terms and define how this impacts life today. Identify the formation of constellations and discuss how society has interacted with these celestial bodies. Prepare for any upcoming eclipses, supermoons and blood moons and apply safe viewing for astronomical events. Distinguish astronomical star systems and compare differences. Assemble theories of cosmology and assess how this impacts astronomy today.

What you will need to bring to the course:

It is advisable to bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated. Along with pen and paper for notes/journal purposes.
