About this course

During the course the events of Bess’s life will be described within the context of the political, economic, religious and cultural beliefs and events expressed and occurring during Tudor times. The facts will be compared to later interpretations regarding her wealth and reputation. We will examine the validity of past and contemporary opinions of Bess of Hardwick by examining both the historical events occurring during her life and the characters of those who related these opinions.
