Have you ever thought about starting a blog but don’t know where to begin? Whether you’re bursting with ideas or just curious to explore, this friendly and practical course is the perfect starting point.
We’ll guide you step-by-step through choosing a topic, crafting an eye-catching title, writing engaging posts, and getting to grips with blogging platforms. You’ll also learn how to handle the technical side of setting up and designing your blog.
This course will cover the benefits of having a blog and consider how to choose the right name and subject matter, the process of selecting a platform or web host, and the differences between a free and paid-for blog. The course will also cover the basics of setting up and designing a blog, how to promote it, and the use of AI tools to support your blogging. We will also provide lots of useful resources to get your new blog online and available to the world.
No previous experience of blogging is needed.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Identify three key elements of an effective blog post.
- Explain two personal or professional benefits of blogging.
- Compare the pros and cons of free and paid blogging platforms.
- Write a structured blog post suitable for an online audience.
- Discuss three ways to attract blog visitors, including using AI tools. - Recognise how blogging can support digital skills, self-promotion, and online portfolios for employability.

To enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
