About this course

About this course

This course will enable you to use perspective (and other methods) to draw convincing representations of objects in space. Through hands-on projects you will learn about the history, theory and application of drawing systems, and adapt them to your own style.

What will be covered on the course? What will be taught to learners?

  • You will use simple tools to explore the methods that can be used to make flat representations of a 3 dimensional world, including overlapping, linear perspective, use of contrast and colour, and optical techniques.
  • Through practical experiments you will use these methods for abstract design and observational drawing.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

  • By the end of the course you will understand how different approaches to representing space can be used, and how they can be combined to make effective pictures and designs.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

  • Basic drawing skills

You will need:

  • A4 sketchbook, 3B and HB pencils, rubber, sharpener
