About this course

The art of massage has been around for centuries – for relaxation, to healing – such as the relief of numbness, tingling, and stiffness by applying pressure to areas of your body.

An understanding of the concept and the history of what reflexology is, covering a variety of massage techniques, the many benefits physically and mentally of reflexology. The art of Reflexology is to encourage the body's natural healing processes by applying pressure to reflex points on the hands and feet, to restore the body’s natural balance. Learning about how the foot and the hand and the ear are like a map of our bodies and understanding the different areas of the hand & foot that correspond to certain organs of our body such as where our heart, liver and lungs are etc. How to perform a reflexology on each other and on self.

What will be covered on the course?

Learning the history behind reflexology and the benefits, covering Health and Safety. A step-by-step guide to give reflexology massage to the hand & foot (can also be done with a partner). Learning about how the foot and the hand and the ear are like a map of our bodies and understanding the different areas of the hand & foot that correspond to certain organs of our body such as where our heart, liver and lungs are etc. Learning the different massage and movement techniques

By the end of the course learners will have knowledge of what reflexology is and how to perform a reflexology massage to themselves and others by applying pressure to reflex points on the hand & foot, covering Health and Safety and the history behind this relaxing art, and the many physical and mental benefits. Understanding of how the hands & feet are a map of our bodies and how certain pressure points will relate to different areas of our bodies. Working on yourself or on others you will learn how to perform reflexology using a variety of movements and techniques.

Learners should bring a drink – water or juice, notebook and pen, cream/lotion/talc powder, hand towel, cushion/pillow, sanitizing wipes
