Join us for an interactive event celebrating the release of Where the Earth Holds Secrets - a powerful new novel inspired by the true story of missing persons in Cyprus and the author’s own family history.Eve Makis will share insights into her research behind the book, the process of transforming personal and historical stories into fiction, and the hidden histories that shape families and communities across generations.
Audience members will also be invited to reflect on the hidden stories within their own families and communities. Come and share your memories, ask questions, and discuss other works shaped by personal histories.

Eve Makis is the award-winning author of The Spice Box Letters and several other novels exploring identity, memory and belonging, as well as the non-fiction writing guide The Minute Memoir. She began her career as a journalist and radio presenter before becoming a novelist and lecturer in Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University. She has published four novels and lives between the UK and Cyprus.
