Venue Beeston Library

Danny Wells introduces Derbyshire-born Catherine Booth - a woman of remarkable achievements.
After meeting her kindred spirit in William Booth, they went on to develop the Salvation Army together in response to the poverty they saw in industrial cities like Nottingham. Catherine raised eight children, overcame William’s resistance to women preaching and advocated for working women. Her belief and drive were invaluable in their mission to offer people “A way out of Darkest England”.
