InspiREAD
InspiREAD began during the first Covid-19 lockdown as a virtual primary book award. It now runs annually during the summer term
Inspire Education Library Service hosts three annual book awards for schools in Nottinghamshire, Nottingham city, Derbyshire and Derby city.
- InspiREAD for primary aged children and their families
- Brilliant Book Award for Key Stage 3 secondary school pupils.
- Edge Book Award for Key Stage 4 years 9, 10 and 11.
Our three award programmes are a great way to encourage children and young people to read for pleasure. The shortlisted books are chosen primarily by our specialist team of librarians and the awards are open to regional schools to participate. Our programme also supports the DfE Enrichment Framework, with opportunities for pupils to engage with UK authors, illustrators and poets as part of each award season. These experiences can help broaden horizons and increase access to meaningful enrichment, particularly for disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils.
