About this course

The course will cover taking part in a short workshop to create three paper-folded animal shapes. You will use angles and symmetry to fold 2D animal shapes. You will be able to accurately measure, as well as improve fine-motor and eye-coordinator skills.  


What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

Children must be mature enough to take part in making activities and engage with fun explanations. Adults must be accompanied by a child (maximum 2 children per adult) and children must be accompanied by an adult – you will be working together to complete the maths challenge set. ONLY Adults are required to complete an enrolment form.


What are the aims of the course?  

You will be able to create a range of basic animal shapes in papercraft. You will understand folding symmetrical shapes, measuring, and create angles to make these shapes. 


What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

Upon the completion of the course, learners will be able to:  

  • Recognise, identify and match at least three different geometric 2D and 3D shape names.   
  • Understand and analyse simple ideas of symmetry, measurement, and angles in paper forms.  
  • Create and produce three paper animal shapes. 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

This course is for people who don’t have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above) or do not feel confident working at this level. You will self-declare this on the enrolment form.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
