About this course

Have you ever fancied being an artist, or maybe it was once a passion and needs reviving?

Join us for this online course, where we will explore the role animals have within art, linking this with the local wildlife and art of Nottinghamshire.

You will learn about artists such as Emma Wilmott and George Stubbs, and investigate how birds, insects, horses, dogs and other wildlife are represented in art. You will develop your own artwork, exploring sketching, mark making and colour.

You will learn how to produce a sketchbook/ portfolio, and how to develop your artistic skills for future goals, whilst also exploring historical stories around animals in art. No prior knowledge required to join this course.

Working on a different subject each week, by the end of the course, you will have achieved drawing still life, a portrait, and a landscape scene, as well as beginning your own project.

You will have a range of techniques and a good theoretical knowledge of Art.

You will have pieces of work which could be used as the start of a portfolio or sketchbook.

You will have the skills to be a reflective practitioner and be able to analyze the artwork of famous Nottinghamshire artists.

You will need paper, pens, pencils and coloured pencil crayons.
