About this course

Are you interested in blogging? Perhaps you’d like to set up your own blog but don’t know where to start? This course will take you through the basics, from choosing the right topic and title to writing an engaging post. We’ll also look at some of the different blog builders and platforms, and tackle the basic technical issues of setting up and designing a new blog. 

What will be covered on the course?   

• We will discuss the possible benefits of having a blog, think about how to choose the right name and subject matter, selecting a platform or web host, and the benefits, or not, of self-hosting or opting for a free alternative. The course will also cover the technical basics of setting up and designing a blog and provide lots of useful resources to get your new blog online and available to the world. 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

• You will have gained the confidence and tools needed to set up a basic blog. This will include the creative process, such as writing a blog post, and the technical processes, such as being able to set up an online blog.  
• You will be clear on the reasons why a blog can be of benefit, know what makes a good blog post, understand what a platform is, appreciate the pitfalls of self-hosting, and know how to attract visitors to your blog! 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

• No previous experience is necessary.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.  Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
