About this course

In this course, you will learn how to create an expressive cityscape composition in acrylics, with tuition provided through a mixture of demonstrations and exercises according to your needs. The course will help you to explore the boundaries between representation and abstraction. The course is suitable for improvers.

This course focuses on the urban landscape theme based on the constant construction and deconstruction of the elements:

- Selecting appropriate photo references

- Analysing examples of cityscape paintings in the work of different artists

- Using different tools to create mark-making

- Colour theory& mixing: saturated versus non saturated colours

- Sketching (dry and wet media)

- Blending, layering and impasto techniques

a range of synthetic paint brushes
graphite pencils

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.
