About this course

This is an introductory session for adults on the subject of computer coding using the programming language Python. It is aimed at total beginners. No previous knowledge of coding is necessary.

Learning to display text on screen.
Prompting the user to enter information
Storing information
Repeating tasks
Decision making

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Learners will learn key principles of coding. They will understand how to plan and write short, simple programs in Python 3.0

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

Learners should be able to use a computer, mouse/trackpad and keyboard.

The course will be delivered using Zoom: learners will watch ‘Walkthrough’ demonstrations by the tutor and then attempt tasks set in course materials. Written course materials will be distributed as PDF files through the Zoom chat function where possible.

Learners will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with at least a microphone (headset or built-in). A webcam is preferable.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
