About this course

About this course

This course will delve into the relationship between creative writing and nature, looking at the way nature has always been a catalyst and inspiration for writers and reflecting upon how we can use our love and appreciation of the natural world to inspire us to write. We will explore different writing genres including nature writing, poetry and autobiographical writing. From this we will go on to develop skills in observing and capturing nature in our own words, looking at how we can harness awareness of our senses such as sight, sound and smell to become both more attuned to nature and also better writers.

By the end of this course you will have a deeper understanding of the relationship between nature and creative writing and will have expressed this in your own written work, writing in a number of genres.  This will be done by looking at:

  • An introduction into nature in different writing genres
  • Analysing texts for deeper understanding of literary devices using the simple pneumonic : A FOREST
  • Employing literary devices in our own writing
  • Improving our descriptive language skills and using our five senses

No Prior knowledge is required for this course

Resources required:

  • A simple notebook and pen.
