Crochet Tunisian - Mansfield Central Library - Adult Learning

This practical course introduces learners to Tunisian crochet, you will learn how to use a crochet hook and yarn, while also gaining insight into the history of crochet.

During the course, you will practice a wide range of stitches to build your confidence and ability. This includes basic and full Tunisian crochet, as well as knit and purl stitches, double and treble stitches, and the half double stitch. You will also learn more detailed techniques such as the extended simple stitch, crossed Tunisian stitch, Tunisian simple stitch worked in the back loop, and the Tunisian X stitch.

The course also introduces more advanced styles, including reverse and twisted Tunisian crochet stitches, helping you create different textures and patterns in your work. Alongside this, you will learn how to recognise and understand crochet patterns by exploring the differences between American and UK stitch terms, as well as common Tunisian crochet symbols.

By the end of the course, learners will have the skills and confidence to use a variety of crochet and Tunisian stitches and apply them in creative projects.

By the end of the course you will be able to:- 

• PERFORM THE FORWARD AND RETURN PASS OF THE BASIC / SIMPLE TUNISIAN STITCH 

• CROCHET A 10X10 SQUARE OF EACH STITCH 

• COMPLETE A SQUARE USING A DIFFERENT STITCH ON EACH ROW 

• CONFIDENTLY CONVERT HOOK SIZES FROM UK TO US AND IDENTIFY THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UK AND US PATTERNS 

• DEVELOP CREATIVITY KEY SKILLS TO PRODUCE YOUR OWN DESIGNS IN THE FUTURE

What you need to bring to the course:

A drink – water or juice, notebook and pen, and a hook size 4/4.5/or 5 and yarn/wool
