This course is for adults who want to understand the basics of digital marketing and how to manage social media in a simple and confident way.
It is designed to be friendly, supportive, and easy to follow, helping you learn at your own pace in a relaxed group setting.
You will learn practical skills to help you promote ideas, projects, or small businesses online. The sessions focus on everyday use, with clear explanations and plenty of time to practise. You will explore key topics such as understanding different social media platforms, creating simple posts, using images and text effectively, planning content, and engaging safely with an online audience.
The course will also introduce basic digital marketing ideas, including online promotion, consistency, and understanding your audience. By the end of the course, you will feel more confident managing social media and supporting simple digital marketing tasks.

Use social media platforms confidently and safely
Entry requirements
You should be able to turn on a computer and use a mouse. No previous marketing or social media management experience is needed.
What to bring
Live sessions will be help on Teams, so you will need a laptop/PC with an internet connection. Reading glasses if needed and a notebook and pen if you wish to take notes. Any social media account logons you already have.

Living in England
To book and join one of our courses, you must live in England permanently and either:
Live outside the devolved areas listed below, or
Live inside the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) area (Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire).
You cannot enrol if you live in these devolved areas:
Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)

Residency Requirements (Additional Information)
If you live in the UK on a visa, we’ll need evidence of your visa to confirm funding. You can upload this when applying, and you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire.
Some exceptions include:
Your visa must last until after your course ends.
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for at least 6 months while their claim is being processed.
You are supported by your local authority under Section 23C or 23CA of the Children Act 1989, or under the Care Act 2014.
Anyone who does not meet the funding criteria would need to pay full course fees.
