About this course

Join our fun family learning course aimed at families with babies and children under the age of 5. Music-making provides an engaging and enjoyable activity for everyone and is led by a friendly and experienced teacher. 


This practical course will give ideas about how to support your child with music.  


All sessions are mapped to the Early Learning Goals and support the Government’s curriculum. 


What will be covered on the course?   

  • You’ll learn songs and rhymes both familiar and brand new to support literacy, vocabulary and language development. 
  • You’ll learn how to support your child to read and play simple musical rhythms. 
  • Learn some Makaton signing. 
  • You’ll learn how to use the phonic programme Jolly Phonics to help with sounds and early reading skills. 
  • Engage with a curriculum theme such as: Autumn, Transport, Christmas. 
  • Celebrate various key events throughout the academic year such as: World Nursery Rhyme Week in November, BBC Music Day and more. 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • A range of strategies and activities for supporting their baby/children with fun and interactive learning.  

What resources/course materials do learners need to bring for the course? 

  • Learners can bring a rattle/shaker or simple musical instruments if they prefer. 
  • Blanket to sit on. 
  • Water and a snack for their child and themselves. 

Please note these courses run term time only.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
