About this course

In this course, you will learn how to paint flower compositions in acrylics in a semi-abstract style. You will learn how to achieve different effects using a range of tools and materials. The course helps learners to create wonderful paintings and gives them a feeling of mastery and accomplishment. Being able to choose the design, learners end up with unique paintings. The course is suitable for beginners.

By the end of the course, you will complete at least one painting on canvas. You will become more confident in painting florals in acrylics.

The course covers tips and tricks on how to successfully paint flowers:

- Selecting appropriate photo references

- Analysing examples of flower paintings in the work of different artists

- Using different tools to create mark-making

- Colour mixing saturated versus non saturated colours

- Learning how to use complementary colours

- Depicting details: hard edges versus soft edges

- Blending technique

acrylic paint* (Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Magenta, Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, Titanium White acrylic paint), white acrylic
gesso

a range of synthetic paint brushes

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.
