About this course

What are the aims of the course? 

  • Would you like to plan, prepare and enjoy nutritious food?  
  • Would you like to take part in a gentle movement class? 
  • This course is designed to support you to develop your cookery skills, learn to balance nutrition and promote the enjoyment of healthy food.  
  • You will be able to understand calories as a measure of energy, and how to make healthy choices. You will develop skills, and confidence, to prepare and cook a healthy meal. You will also be able to recognise and use cheaper ingredient alternatives. Each session ends with a gentle movement class led by the team Active 4 Today!  

Beginners welcome!  


What will be covered on the course? 

This course has been created to support healthy eating habits and an active life. It embeds elements of

 - Measuring calories and ingredients 

 - Comparing prices 

 - Understanding cooking temperatures 

 - Proportioning recipes


These skills will enable learners to begin their healthy lifestyle journey. 


This course is for people who don’t already have a level 2 qualification in maths, for example GCSE C/4 or above, or are not confident in using maths at this level. 


The movement part of the class is beginner friendly and can be adapted to the needs and level of the learner by the Active for Today team.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING, AND
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.


To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
