Ever wanted to learn guitar but don't know where to start? This course is aimed at adults who would like to begin their journey of learning the guitar, for those wanting to learn the basics, ready to keep building on into the future. This is a beginner course so no prior knowledge is required. If you are already a confident guitar player, you would be more suited to an intermediate course.
Learners will cover everything from learning chords, left hand technique, strumming and finger picking, reading TAB / musical notation and ultimately playing along to well-known songs and pieces. The course will move at a steady pace, helping learners to continue progressing throughout the duration of the course. Lessons will be focused towards acoustic guitar technique, however this can be transferred onto the electric guitar if desired.
With sufficient practice, learners will be able to strum a 4 chord progression, and they will have developed an understanding of strumming patterns too, so that after the course there will be the potential to play 100s of songs of their choosing. Learners will learn warm ups and scales to build finger strength and they will be able to play pieces both along to backing tracks and unaccompanied.
Learners need to have tuned 6 string guitar ready for the first session. A plectrum would also be useful. Here is a useful link for how to tune your guitar.
