About this course

This course will identify the different types of micro-organisms existing in the gastrointestinal tract, their impact on health and suggest ways to promote healthy populations.

What will be covered on the course?

Types of bacteria living on and in humans
Dynamics of microbial growth
The anatomy and physiology of the digestive system
How micro-organisms affect physical and mental health
Understand how to improve the impact of good bacteria

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Identify different types bacteria in the human gut
List factors affecting microorganism growth
Recognize the structure and function of the gastro-intestinal tract
Interpret the impact of microorganisms on human health
Evaluate strategies to increase variety and population of good bacteria

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

A basic understanding of the human biology would be useful, but not essential.
