Course Description

What are the aims of the course?

People may be struggling with maths in different ways. Dyscalculia, which is described as dyslexia with numbers, is a specific and persistent difficulty in understanding, learning and using maths. This course is an introduction to let you know about the causes, symptoms, screening and treatment for Dyscalculia. Helping yourself or the ones with dyscalculia, you are encouraged to join us and find out the tips of feeling better about numbers.

What will be covered on the course?

• Understand about the definition for dyscalculia and why people have it,

• Recognise the signs of having dyscalculia.

• How can dyscalculia be spotted and supported in adults and children?

• Share with some dyscalculia resources and others’ experiences.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

• Give out two causes and two signs of dyscalculia.

• Try to do screening for signs of dyscalculia.

• Recommend two ways of supporting dyscalculia in our everyday life.

• Reflect your feelings on the sharing of others’ experiences.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

This course is for people who don’t have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above). You will self-declare this on the enrolment form
