About this course

Macramé is relaxing and therapeutic craft, as it keeps your hands busy and gives your mind time to rest.   


This taster session will introduce to hitches and make a keyring / bag charm.   This is one of the most useful knots in macrame and can be spotted in many projects  


There is no previous experience necessary to complete this course just a wiliness to have a try. 

You receive a list of materials once you book the course


Within the course learners will gain an introduction to macrame and have a understanding of; 

  • Macrame knots 
  • Macrame equipment 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

  • Develop/improve their eye and hand coordination  
  • Develop/Use counting skills & measuring – Be able to measure requirements of cord for a project 
  • Analyse the benefits of creative activities to improved mental health 
  • Have the understanding of the basic Macrame Knots and be able demonstrate - Larks Head  
  • Have the understanding of the basic Macrame Knots and be able demonstrate – Double Half Hitch  
  • Have the understanding of the basic Macrame Knots and be able demonstrate – Gathering Knot (optional- demanding on finish) 

Materials & Equipment Required: (* = essential) 

  • Macrame cord (*) - require 3mm – total of 4.5m (I used a twisted ply style of cord which is easier to work with alternative braid version would be good)  
  • D – shape Key ring (*) 

Can be borrowed from tutor in session 

  • Knotting Board (cork or foam mat) 
  • T – Pins 
  • Scissors 
  • Tape measure 
  • Comb and Brush
