About this course

Learn how to make beautiful jewellery pieces, using a range of recycled materials and air dry or polymer clay, 

taking your inspiration from the natural life of Sherwood Forest.  Themes include birds, acorns, oak leaves, Rowan, Silver birch and wild flowers.  This course is suitable for beginners.

By the end of this course you will:

• Be able to recognise and safely use jewellery tools and equipment.

• Know how to create beads, pendants and charms 

• Know how to recycle and re-use commonly found waste household products into personal items suitable for yourself or to give as gifts.

This course is programmed as part of the Miner2Major Landscape Partnership scheme, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Resource /course materials/equipment for  the course: 

• Scrap card, 

• decorative paper,

• Tissue paper

• Milk-bottle plastic, 

• 0.8 or 1mm jewellery wires and thinner wire, (0.4mm), 

• Marker pens, 

• Scissors, 

• PVA  glue 

• An approx. 1” brush and also a thinner brush.

For the clay work:

• Either air-dry clay, polymer clay, (or follow the class recipe to make own air-dry clay -  this will be discussed in the first session)

• An old tin tray, 

• Plastic or wooden board, 

• An old rolling pin or something similar

• Small modelling tools, (can adapt what you find around house or use wooden/ plastic knife etc.)

Jewellery making requirements will be discussed at the first session.

Learners will also  be sent templates of shapes to print off,  or may choose to hand draw natural shapes.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

• Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
