Tired of making the same old dishes every week?   Looking for help with planning a menu to save time and money? 


The course will cover meal planning tips to save money, how to create shopping lists and some demonstrations of how to make dishes, as well as promoting healthy eating and safety in the kitchen. 


If you are looking for a guide to meal planning, inspiration for new recipe ideas and money saving tips this course is for you.

  • Keeping a food diary 
  • Review of shopping habits and spend 
  • Meal planning on a budget 
  • Planning the weekly shopping list 
  • Suggestions for easy recipes 
  • Top tips for saving money and time 
  • A guide to healthy eating 
  • Ideas for store cupboard dishes 
  • Reducing food waste 
  • Safe food preparation techniques 

At the end of the course learners will be able to: 

  • Plan a menu and write a shopping list 
  • Cost and budget their food bill 
  • Make a meal from store cupboard products 
  • Cook a meal from scratch within a budget at home 
  • Understand how to reduce waste by using up ingredients 
  • Save money and time by batching cooking  
  • Prepare food safely 
  • Consider healthy eating options 

Learners will be sent a Recipe Book for reference and will have the option to buy the ingredients to try out recipes - optional

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
