Take skills you’ve already learnt—such as knitting, sewing, macramé, weaving, embroidery, and felting—and apply them to a personal textiles project of your own design. You’ll be encouraged to combine techniques and craft skills you may already have, such as knitting, crochet, felting, or embroidery into a single design.
With tutor guidance and support, you’ll plan, develop, and complete a unique mixed media piece—this could be anything from a decorative panel or wearable item to a small sculpture or functional craft item. Throughout the course, you’ll be supported with demonstrations, group discussion, and individual advice to help you bring your creative vision to life.
This course is ideal if you’ve done the Mixed Media Textiles Wall Hanging course or have some experience in textile-based crafts and want to develop your ideas further. What will learners achieve by the end of the course? Set an intention to combine at least three different techniques or crafts Incorporate different textile crafts into a balanced design Explore methods of attaching and embellishing Demonstrate creative use of layering, colour, and texture to add depth and interest Increase creative confidence by creating your own unique design independently
What you will need to bring to the course:
A pen and paper
