About this course

This course is for anyone with an interest in making their own cordage (string, rope or twine)

Making your own cordage is a really useful and versatile skill to have!

We'll start with the core skill of plying, and will add to this over our sessions, covering different ways to ply materials, different materials that can be plied, and different ways of using the cordage we've made.

No prior experience needed.

By the end of this course you will:

Have confidence in plying using two or three strands of fibres
Know a range of different and simple ways that cordage can be made
Have a working understanding of what fibres can be used, and how to use them
Have knowledge of preparing wild fibres for cordage making
Gain experience of creating something using the cordage made in class

Please bring:

an apron and a tea towel
scissors
reading glasses if you need them
