About this course

The course aims to introduce the learner to the many different available varieties of fruit trees, their management, uses, benefits to wildlife, and issues associated with the management of old fruit trees.  The course will be based in the orchard at Ransom Wood Estate.

By the end of this course you will have an understanding of  pruning, propagation and fruit tree management techniques.

You will have the basic skills to enable you to identify different plant varieties and undertake techniques used for their management.  You will also  understand the benefits of fruit trees and orchards to wildlife and people.

Suitable for beginners.

You will need clothes suitable for outdoors, including a waterproof  jacket and sturdy  shoes / boots.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
