About this course

The course is suited to individuals who would like to increase their own fitness levels, adapt their diet, and achieve a healthier lifestyle for the New Year and beyond! By using the principles of training as a framework, participants will be able to begin planning a training programme that uses scientific principles to improve physical health and well-being. Upon completion of the course, you will have obtained the skills to begin to design a successful training programme. Programmes can be tailored to suit individuals with differing personal fitness needs based on age, gender and fitness levels.


What will be covered on the course?  

  • Effects of cardiovascular training on the body 
  • Monitoring exercise intensity 
  • Eating for health 
  • Effects of resistance training on the body 
  • Principles of programme design 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

  • To know the health benefits of physical activity 
  • To know different methods of monitoring exercise intensity. 
  • Know the calorie requirements for a healthy diet 
  • Understand how to manage and effect your weight through controlling your calorie intake 
  • Know the effects of resistance training on bones and joints including the significance of weight-bearing exercise. 
  • To understand the short and long-term effects of resistance training on muscle. 
  • To know how resistance training can improve posture 

There are no formal entry requirements for participants to take part in this course. The course is aimed at individuals who would like to increase their understanding of health & fitness. 


This course will suit you if you wish to gain knowledge, understanding and the skills for personal development or for those wishing to work or volunteer in sport/leisure in a variety of different roles. 


As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.  Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
