About this course

This course not only lists the historical events which shaped Nottinghamshire from pre-history to the present day but examines their causes and effects in relation to both the county’s specific geology and geography and wider political, scientific and commercial developments. Evidence of the changing character of the county can be provided through its art, architecture, myth and sport. These studies should reveal the occasionally contradictory character of this remarkable region.

During the course, we will look:

To determine major events occurring within, and framing the historical course of Nottinghamshire
To examine these events in relation to geology, geography, the use of natural resources and wider political developments
To examine how these events relate to the development of the arts and leisure activities emanating from, and representing Nottinghamshire
