The aim of the course is for learners to make their own Overnight Oats by following the instructions and choosing from the range of ingredients provided. We will also calculate the calories and cost per recipe.
The course will include weighing ingredients using digital scales, measuring ingredients using measuring spoons and jugs. We will refer to the ‘eat-well plate’ and look at food categories, talk about the different ingredient options and how to add extra fibre and protein to breakfast by using chia seeds and 0% Greek yogurt. There will be an opportunity to calculate the calories and cost per recipe.
Storage of Overnight Oats will also be discussed as once made and sealed in a jar or takeaway container, with lid, Overnight Oats can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days or if containing fruit, for up to 3 days. Some people make up several portions and use it throughout the week.
By the end of the session, families will have weighed and measured their ingredients, finished their Overnight Oats in a jar to take home.
No previous experience of Overnight Oats is necessary. Help will be given for digital scales and measuring jugs etc.
This course is for people who don’t have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above). You will self-declare this on the enrolment form.
