About this course

About this course

Struggling for new breakfast ideas?

Looking for cost-effective meals?

If so, our session on Overnight Oats is worth a try.

Over 2 hours you will have the chance to create your own healthy breakfast and learn ways to save money on ingredients too.

The aim of this session is for learners to make their own overnight oats by following the instructions, weighing, and measuring their own ingredients.

As well as ‘the maths’, learners will discuss healthy eating options and how to save money on the type of ingredients selected. For example, how to add extra fibre and protein to breakfast by using different fruits, seeds and yoghurt.

Storage of Overnight Oats will also be discussed as once made and sealed in a jar or takeaway container, with lid, overnight oats can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days or if containing fruit, for up to 3 days.  Some people make up several portions and use it throughout the week.

By the end of the 2-hour session, you will have,

1. weighed out ingredients

2. used digital scales,

3. made use of different measuring apparatus (eg. spoons and jugs)

4.talked about the different healthy eating ingredient options.

Learners will also be able to take home the jar of overnight oats made in the session.

No previous experience of Overnight Oats is necessary.  Help will be given with using digital scales and measuring jugs etc.
