About this course

The course will introduce beginners to paper crafts so they can develop their own creative ideas and include embellishments in their own papercraft projects. The course will include paper projects such as making fringed flowers; a quilled heart, butterfies, goldfish, frog, and festive decoration; and a ‘pop-up’ greeting card.

Learners will be taught how to make all the quilling shapes they will need for creating beautiful images

They will learn the correct names for these shapes and how to combine them to make a quilled heart, quilled flower, festive decoration and quilled butterfly.

There will also be a session on how to make a pop-up greeting card.

We will also look briefly at the history of quilling and pop-up cards and also consider examples of paper craft from different cultures.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

They will make quilling shapes from thin strips of paper including coils and scrolls,
They will know the correct name for these shapes,
They will practice combining them to make pictures including a heart, flowers, goldfish frog and butterflies.
They will also make flowers using the fringing method.
Make a Greeting Card which has a 3D element which ‘pops up’.
Know five facts about the history of quilling and pop-ups.
By the end of the course they will know how to take their interest in paper crafts further if they wish to do so.

Materials and tools will be available for use in the sessions. Learners will be told how to obtain their own materials and tools for use after the course.
