About this course

Our Photography Next Steps: Building confidence and skills course at Mansfield Woodhouse Library will develop your creative approach to photography. The course will support you to become familiar and confident using camera settings off automatic specifically using Aperture and shutter priority and increasing your skills to move into manual.

Learners must bring a digital camera to use during the course. 

What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners? 

  • Using their camera off auto 
  • The exposure triangle 
  • Using aperture priority in a variety of settings 
  • Using shutter priority in a variety of settings 
  • Using manual in a variety of photography settings 
  • Developing use of creative technics to producing interesting images across a variety of photographic situations 

 What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • To be able to use shutter and aperture priority on their camera 
  • To be able to use the camera in manual 
  • To take creative shots capturing people and portraits 
  • To be able to capture sport and action subjects 
  • To be able to expose a photo correctly in low light situations 
  • To use at least 5 creative technics to compose an image

 To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
