About this course

To use practical activities and written exercises to inspire learners to create and perform/ direct short scripts .

We will take part in a number of drama activities and look at examples of published texts to explore character motivation and story arc, creating humour, creating tension and creating a short script with the intention of it being performed to the group.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

To develop confidence in improvisation skills by taking part in improvisation activities
To work with peers to explore ideas in a piece of script
To understand different layers and meanings in a script
To create short scripts, with increasing complexity
To create, rehearse and perform a short piece of drama

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

Enjoyment (not necessarily experience) of drama and theatre
A willingness to take part in practical activities and work with others

It would be useful if learners wear comfortable clothes that they can move around in
