About this course

About this course

This course has been written to help you cook more seasonally. Whilst doing this we’ll also be sneaking in a bit of maths practice to improve your ability with weighing, timing, pricing and planning.  You’ll watch expert demonstrations and then cook along with your tutor from the comfort of your own kitchen. We will use basic equipment that can be found in most homes and recipes will be easily adjusted to suit different dietary needs. Who thought maths could be so tasty?!

What will be covered on the course?

  • When different vegetables are in season
  • Different ways to prepare them
  • How to plan your cooking to both make the best of what’s on offer this season as well as making your time in the kitchen as stress free as possible
  • Weighing, measuring and timing accurately to improve your technique
  • Scaling recipes up or down to feed more or less people
  • Pricing recipes and meals to help you make the most of your food budget

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

By the end of the course, you will have improved your knowledge of how and when to use different vegetables. You’ll be able to use the maths skills you’ve developed to help you plan and prepare meals in a stress-free, budget friendly way.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?
