If you have a basic understanding of Spanish and are ready to progress, this course will help you build confidence and fluency. You’ll develop your speaking and listening skills while learning to use the past and future tenses in everyday situations. Through fun and practical topics like travel, shopping, health, and giving opinions, you’ll expand your vocabulary, improve your pronunciation, and take your Spanish to the next level.
In this course, you will build on your basic Spanish knowledge by mastering the past (preterite) and future tenses to talk about past events and future plans. You’ll expand your vocabulary with practical topics like travel, shopping, health, and expressing opinions. You’ll learn to navigate travel situations, discuss preferences, and handle transactions in Spanish. The course will also cover how to talk about health, including visiting the doctor and discussing symptoms. Alongside grammar, you'll focus on improving your speaking and listening skills through interactive activities that boost fluency and confidence. By the end, you’ll be able to hold conversations in various everyday situations, with a deeper understanding of Spanish grammar and vocabulary.
This course is ideal for you if:-
You have basic Spanish skills and are comfortable with the present tense but want to expand your knowledge to talk about the past and future.
You enjoy learning through practical topics like travel, shopping, and health, and want to use Spanish in real-life situations.
You want to improve your speaking and listening skills in a supportive, interactive environment while building confidence in using Spanish.
By the end of this 10-week Spanish – Next Steps course, you will:-
Use the past tense (preterite) to describe personal experiences and past events in a variety of contexts.
Form and use the future tense to express plans and intentions in simple conversations, demonstrating understanding of regular and irregular verb conjugations.
Navigate everyday travel situations in Spanish, including asking for directions, booking accommodation, and using transport-related vocabulary with confidence.
Engage in basic shopping scenarios, such as asking for prices, discussing preferences, and making purchases, using appropriate vocabulary and polite expressions.
Discuss health topics, including symptoms, doctor visits, and well-being, using relevant vocabulary in at least two roleplay situations.
Express opinions and preferences on everyday topics like food, hobbies, and films, using phrases like me gusta, me encanta, prefiero, and no me gusta in at least three conversation scenarios.
Please bring to the course with you:-
A pen and paper. Learners are welcome to bring a Spanish dictionary with them.

Residency in England
To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must be living in England permanently and live outside of the devolved areas listed below or live within the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) devolved area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire).

Residency Eligibility – other criteria
If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
Some exceptions may apply for example
Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office
You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014
Any learner who is not funded full cost fees would apply to these courses.
