During the course we will be focusing on using a range of techniques and skills including how to create the centre trumpet of the daffodil. You will follow demonstrations by the tutor for each element of the daffodil, how to cut, wire, vein, and colour the petals. You will then select some of these techniques to develop your own skills and knowledge. No previous experience will be required. You will learn about how you can use these techniques creatively, by looking at and discussing various books and websites who influences and motivates.
By the end of the course everyone will have explored and gained confidence in a range of creative techniques, you will produce a beautiful daffodil flower to top any special occasion or celebration cake, including to celebrate a spring or Easter celebration cake. You will gain skills and knowledge to progress on further learning through progression courses or consider career opportunities.

Petal Pad Paste colour- Foliage green extra, Egg yellow, Chestnut
Dog bone tool
Dusting brushes & paint brushes

Confectioners glaze, brush and cleaner

Culprit Daffodil cutter set with veiner
Scissors
Violet leaf veiner
Wire cutting scissors
Jem short friller tool (no. 15) or similar pointed throat tool.

26# green florist wires
Sugar florist paste colours of choice: examples: yellow, green brown, orange.

Residency in England
To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must be living in England permanently and live outside of the devolved areas listed below or live within the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) devolved area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire).

Residency Eligibility – other criteria
If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
Some exceptions may apply for example
Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office
You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014
Any learner who is not funded full cost fees would apply to these courses.
