About this course

This course is an intermediate to sugar craft flower making. You will progress with familiar skills and learn new techniques using sugar florist paste to produce a poppy flower the perfect edition to any celebration cake.   


This course is an intermediate to sugar craft flower making. You will progress with familiar skills and learn new techniques using sugar florist paste to produce a poppy flower the perfect edition to any celebration cake.  You will also produce autumnal foliage to complement your poppy flower.  


What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

  • Produce the centre stamens for the poppy 
  • Produce the inner ovary of the poppy 
  • Produce the petals adding texture and realism  
  • Produce two wired inner petals for the poppy 
  • Produce two wired outer petals for the poppy 
  • Learn how to dust the flower to add dimension  
  • Learn how to make foliage for the poppy  
  • Learn how to make buds, stems and bract  

Learners will have produced a poppy flower with foliage to enhance any celebration cake. 


You will need:

  • Floral paste by squires- red and green 
  • Poppy petal cutter (2 inch by 1 and ½ inches)  
  • Poppy veiners  
  • 24-gauge wire 
  • Rolling pin 
  • Edible glue  
  • Edible tints- Black, brown, red, and green     
  • Tweezers 
  • Ball tool  
  • Dresden tool   
  • Tin foil with glass or container to create a dish shape.  
  • Stamens white or black 
  • Floral tape  
  • Cotton white or black or thin wire  
  • Foam mat 
  • Foliage cutter and veiner

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
