About this course

This course is an advanced guide to making a poinsettia. 


You will learn skills and techniques using sugar florist paste to create a beautiful Christmas flower. This flower can also be created to celebrate a winter wedding. This flower will enhance any special celebrational Christmas cake. 


By attending the course, you will learn:


• How to create a centre red stamen using red cotton.

• How to create the centre using yellow (ball) and green (cone). 

• How to create six centre small leaves.

• How to create 12 coloured bracts (sets of five various sizes) 

• How to create the outer part of the poinsettia green, and tape together. 


Learners will produce a poinsettia to decorate and enhance any special celebration Christmas cake.  Some previous experience will be required to attend the course. 

  • Poinsettia cutter and veiner
  • Sugar florist paste
  • Non-stick board
  • Rolling pin
  • Corn flour pouch for dusting 
  • Yellow colour
  • Green colour
  • Edible glue
  • Red cotton thread or white –(dust red and yellow into the white cotton) 
  • Paintbrushes
  • 26-gauge wire
  • Florist tape green
  • Ball tool
  • Petal cell pad
  • Trex.
  • Small palette knife 
  • Snowflake or preferred dusting powders red dusting powder to dust the bracts, dark green to dust the bracts, Aubergine to dust the bracts  and dusting brush
  • Note pad and pen
