About this course

This course is a follow on course to the sugar craft flower making. You will progress with familiar skills and learn new techniques using sugar florist paste. You will produce a Dahlia flower, the perfect edition to any celebration cake. Previous experience of sugar craft will be required to attend the course.

During the course, we will:

• Produce the bud for the dahlia

• Produce the inner petals of the dahlia

• Produce the free hand petals for texture and realism

• Produce the wired inner petals for the dahlia

• Produce the wired outer petals for the dahlia

• Learn how to dust the flower to add dimension

• Learn how to make foliage for the dahlia petal

Learners will need to bring basic sugar craft resources such as rolling board and rolling pin, cell-pad, ball tool, edible glue, sugar florist paste, colours of choice, corn flour duster, wire 18 gauge and 24 or 26 gauge. Wire cutters, scissors, paint brushes and dusting powders of choice.

Daisy cutter, rose petal cutter, sunflower cutter, dahlia cutter and a dresden tool.
