About this course

This short course will review the Periodic Table of Elements and explore the properties of the elements and how the table is used.  The course is targeted at individuals with an interest in science and those who want a basic understanding how the table is applied in industry.


What will be covered on the course? 

  • Review of the Periodic Table
  • Classification of elements in Groups and Periods
  • Properties of elements within groups in the table
  • Importance and application of the table

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

• Understand how elements are classified in the Periodic Table of Elements

• Explain why elements are grouped by their atomic number

• Relate the properties of elements to their reactions and uses

• Examine the use of the Periodic Table of Elements in industry


No prior skills or knowledge necessary.


As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.  Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
