Discover the expressive beauty of combining watercolour washes with ink in this creative course. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this course offers a supportive environment to explore the dynamic interplay between fluid colour and bold line. Through guided exercises and small projects, you'll learn to create vibrant artworks that capture both structure and spontaneity.
Throughout the course, you’ll be introduced to a wide range of techniques and creative approaches. You’ll begin by learning the fundamentals of watercolour application, including flat washes, graded washes, and wet-on-wet techniques. As the course progresses, you’ll explore how to incorporate ink through line work, texture, and contrast, using tools such as fineliners and dip pens. Each week focuses on a different theme—ranging from abstract compositions, natural objects, nature, still life—allowing you to apply your skills in varied and engaging contexts.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Identify and use essential tools and materials for watercolour and ink art.
Apply a range of watercolour wash techniques and ink drawing methods.
Combine ink and watercolour to create expressive and balanced compositions.
Analyse and critique their own work and that of others using visual art principles.
Develop a personal artistic voice through experimentation and practice.
Produce a cohesive final artwork that integrates the techniques learned.
