This course is designed for adults who want to develop their confidence in creating, editing, and formatting documents using word processing software.
It provides clear, practical guidance in a supportive environment, helping you build essential digital skills for everyday, educational, or workplace tasks.
You will learn how to create and save documents, enter and edit text, and use basic formatting tools to improve the appearance of your work.
The course will also introduce useful features such as spell check, page layout, inserting images, and organising documents for printing or sharing electronically. Sessions are delivered at a steady pace with step-by-step explanations and opportunities to practise.
You will work on a range of practical activities designed to help you become more confident and efficient when using word processing software.
By the end of the course, you will be able to create and format simple documents and feel more confident using word processing software for a variety of tasks.
Learning outcomes:
• Create, save, and open word processing documents
• Enter, edit, and format text using common tools and features
• Insert images and adjust page layout settings
• Prepare and print documents or share them electronically
Entry requirements:
You should have basic computer skills, such as using a mouse and keyboard. This course is suitable for beginners with little or no experience of word processing software.
What to bring:
You may wish to bring a notebook and pen to take notes. Laptops will be available to borrow.

To book and join one of our courses, you must live in England permanently and either:

or
Live outside the devolved areas listed below
You cannot enrol if you live in these devolved areas:

Residency Requirements (Additional Information)
If you live in the UK on a visa, we’ll need evidence of your visa to confirm funding. You can upload this when applying, and you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire.
Some exceptions include:
Your visa must last until after your course ends.
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for at least 6 months while their claim is being processed.
You are supported by your local authority under Section 23C or 23CA of the Children Act 1989, or under the Care Act 2014.
Anyone who does not meet the funding criteria would need to pay full course fees.
