About this course

During this 3 hour session, learners will be introduced to the skills, abilities and knowledge required within the role of working with children, including basic knowledge of SEN and for learners to be able to identify their next step.

What will be covered on the course? What will be taught to learners?

Introduce the learners to the variety of children’s settings that they can work in.
Communication skills needed to work with children and how to present as a good role model.
Basic skills and knowledge to enable learners to work with children.
DBS checks will be explained and a brief explanation of children’s workers to safeguard children.
Knowledge around SEN.
The next steps: What training courses are available for the students to move onto, enabling them to enhance their qualifications and career.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

By the end of the course, learners will have a knowledge of the requirements to further their career in working with children. This will include personal qualities and also qualifications required for the next step.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

There is no requirement for learners to have any prior knowledge of working with children. This is a course to enable learners to gain a knowledge of what skills they need in moving on to a qualification in working with children.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
