Join this online workshop to discover the range of records relating to military personnel in Nottinghamshire Archives from the early seventeenth century to the First World War. Find out who was on the militia ballot roll for Norton Cuckney in 1788, explore the military careers of Nottinghamshire soldiers and find out which weapons the inhabitants of Norwell could lay their hands on in the event of a French invasion.

The talk will take place via Zoom. Your personal link to join will be sent out one day in advance of the event by email to the address given on your booking. This will be generated via Eventbrite and, depending on your email settings, may sometimes be found in a junk mail folder.

Microphones maybe muted and audience questions may be selected via the Q&A function.

This will be a unique, live event and will not be recorded.

Zoom (www.zoom.us) is the online platform we will be using to run this session.

You do not need to have a Zoom account - a link will be emailed to the email address you provide when booking.

The recommended equipment needed for online sessions is

  • A PC/Laptop, iPad/tablet or ‘phone that can run Zoom (an app may need to be downloaded if using an iPad/tablet or ‘phone) with a webcam and microphone
