Furthering Talent: A Nottinghamshire Music Hub partnership with Awards for Young Musicians

If your school (or your child) has whole class music lessons in Nottinghamshire led by Inspire Music you will want to hear about the Furthering Talent programme.

The programme supports pupils who have been identified as having musical talent or potential in their  whole class music lessons.

This September we are looking for nominations from maintained and academy schools to fill spaces in the programme.

Watch this short video, presented by Nottinghamshire's Furthering talent coordinator Andy Hatherley;

As mentioned, each student receives a free 30 minute lesson with an Inspire Music instrumental teacher. In addition, each student receives a bursary of £150 which they can spend on anything that will help them to reach their musical goals. Pupils will also be invited to attend a termly get together in the county which will include a professional workshop or a performance.

Typically the scheme supports children with musical talent or potential at either Primary phase year 4, 5 or 6, or in Secondary phase years 7,8 or 9. The scheme also actively looks to support who come from lower income backgrounds or who have barriers to furthering their musical education.

If you have any questions, do get in touch with the Notts Music Hub team, c/o nottsmusichub@inspireculture.org.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,

The Furthering Talent team, working with Inspire and Nottinghamshire Music Hub.
