About this course

Art - Working with Pastels is an introduction to using oil pastels and soft pastels to create tonal and colour images. No previous experience is necessary as we will start with the basics! We will be experimenting with different ways of using both oil and soft pastels to create marks and textures and mix colours, applying these skills to produce observational drawings from a range of subject matter.

You will learn how to use different pastel drawing techniques through looking at and discussing the diverse approaches to using these mediums of other historical and contemporary artists and by demonstrations, personal experimentation and individual tuition.

By the end of the course everyone will have explored and gained confidence with a range of pastel drawing techniques and media and produced finished creative drawings.

You will need:

A3 sugar paper (or scrapbook).
Soft pastel set (at least 12 colours).
Oil pastel set (at least 12 colours).

All of the equipment and materials can be bought from WH Smith, Hobbycraft, The Range or Amazon.
