This course will provide you with an introduction to the endangered craft of Bobbin Lace making, looking at its long history; dating from 1500’s. Within the course you will gain experience of the equipment and look at different styles of Bobbin Lace from England and from around the world.
Bobbin Lace is an off–loom weaving technique, using multiple thread craft – like macrame, so if you enjoyed macrame and want to try something similar, try this short course.
Over the course you learn the background of the two stitches used in Bobbin Lace, and how to combine these to make different effects. These samples can be created into bookmarks or brooches to show off your craft skills. Suitable for all – no previous craft experience required, and all equipment is available to be used in sessions This course will concentrate on Tape/Braid Bobbin Lace, which can be suitable for those with no previous knowledge but if you have previous knowledge then the tutor will develop an individual plan that meets your aims to develop your lacemaking skills within this style of Bobbin Lace; so please get in contact and start your lace making journey.
What you will need to bring to the course:
ALL equipment is provided by Tutor for use in Session, but if you have lacemaking equipment, please bring it with you.
