About this course

This Bookkeeping for Beginners session offers an introduction to bookkeeping practices and how to process source documents that underpin accurate record keeping

What will be covered on the course:

Information about bookkeeping practices will be shared through explanation, demonstration and group discussions. Learners will receive a variety of documentation to process so they will be able to learn, develop and practice basic bookkeeping skills required for employment.

Course topics include maintaining a cash book using double entry bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, posting from source documents to balance off ledger accounts (sales, purchases and general ledger) and extracting a trial balance, preparing a balance sheet.

Learners will need access to a basic calculator and an email address. Although handouts and financial documentation will be provided, a pen and paper or other suitable device to make notes will be useful.
